The name “Blind Cat” is a homage to my wife, Beth and our cat, Loki.

My wife’s business as a tea importer took her to tea-producing counties on numerous occasions.  She always carried a point-and-shoot camera and took marketing photos at every opportunity.

When I say every opportunity, I mean every opportunity, often some of the best photographs she took were while holding the camera out the car window.  Her photography style garnered laughs from her hosts, one of whom exclaimed, “You take pictures like a blind cat.”  Surprisingly, several of these “blind cat” photographs were used for product packaging and other marketing materials.

Loki, a rescue cat who was part of our family for 17 years, actually became a blind cat during the last stages of his life. Although blind and struggling, he still maintained his swagger as a little boss until the end. His perseverance was inspiring.

The inspiration for Blind Cat Photography is to capture photos at every opportunity and to persevere.
